President Crow, My name is [Name] and as a student of Arizona State University, I am contacting you today to request your help in preserving the “In My Life I Will” Wall, currently hanging in the lobby of the University Center at the ASU Downtown Phoenix Campus. The “In My Life I Will” Wall is a community art project that was constructed by the students of the College of Public Programs Council and supported by the Undergraduate Student Government of Downtown. In only a month, the “In My Life I Will” Wall has been filled multiple times with additional lines being drawn to add to the project, been featured in a prominent Downtown Devil article, and is a talking point for students across the Downtown Phoenix Campus. In a time where art is being removed from more and more places on the Downtown Phoenix Campus, the “In My Life I Will” Wall is one of the last and most inspirational works that belongs to the students. The Office of the University Architect has taken action against the wall claiming it does not fit the aesthetic of ASU buildings. Their planned date of the wall’s removal is this Saturday, October 11th. However, I firmly believe the “In My Life I Will” Wall perfectly represents ASU institutional interests in the built environment to support the principles of the New American University, as is stated in the Office of the University Architect’s mission.
