The life of oddly named New London County, Connecticut resident Amatus Robbins Bigelow is examined today on the site. A lifelong resident of Colchester in that state, Bigelow was a distinguished local citizen who occupied numerous offices in town, including that of assessor, constable, notary public and grand juror. Elected to the Connecticut State House of Representatives in November 1902, Bigelow served a brief term here, dying on April 1, 1906 at age 52. He was survived by two of his daughters, his wife and his mother. Read all about him!!
