The more and more I become disheartened by the current fishery management (or shoudl I say mis-management) regime, the more and more I believe that Nixon truly made a mistake in 1972 when he gutted the sportfishing division of the USFWS..... The current system at NOAA and the various council has become so disfunctional that now it is really the Anti-Fishing Eviro-NGO running the show with NMFS folks just being the face of incompetitence..... I beleive that EVERY state need to invoke its 9th, and tell the federal government that it is the states who have the power to regualte fisheries, not the federal government. I know I know....Commerce Clause and all that, but technically the commerce clause does not come into play until the fish hit the dock are unloaded and sold (the act of commerce), which is typically done in the same point of entry as departure..... We need to act now and undo the harm being done to our fisheries and coastal communities by this crony social system that is taking form in our fishery management...Actt soon or you will be purchasing your right to fish form a commerical fisherman, before you even leave the dock
