The most uncomfortable phenomenon that I have encountered in Haiti is having a maid in the house who does details including putting your plate in front of you or washing your clothes. And its so not because you are fancy. Its only to give women in need the opportunity to make some cash. From what I hear from locals, unemployment rate is 80%. So those who do have jobs try to hire others for things like driving and house care. Nonetheless - uncomfortable! P.S. available statistics are not reliable. Still trying to find a way to get accurate numbers.
