The news about the Malaysian missing flight MH370 are getting worse every minute. How can an airplane as large as a Boeing 777 is lost an one has seen it, no radar has spotted it and no wreckage is found? And where did it go? so many conflicting stories! Did it fly for hours after the last communication? which direction? There is talk about hijacking, deliberate silencing the plane communication, catastrophic failure or a bomb. I ve been reading a lot in the media in the past few days and something familiar emerges. There has been a notice from Boeing about cracks been discovered in some B 777 near the satellite antenna side on the fuselage and all airline companies were advised to inspect their 777s. Experts have advised that these hairline cracks can cause slow decompression of the cabin. Slow decompression may cause anoxia to the passengers and the pilots of the plane that flies 35,000 ft putting making everybody unconscious. This is what happened with the Helios airplane that flew from Cyprus to Athens with everyone in the plane out. That plane finally crashed after it run out of fuel. Also if the crack become bigger then it may cause part of the fuselage to rip and destroy the satellite antenna that is vital for the planes communication and navigation links. So if that happened that can explain why there was no communication with the plane but also may explain why the last pilot to communicate with the plane said that he heard muffled and slurred speech. Also if the satellite antenna was damaged that may have affected the automatic pilot so the plane can continue to fly but now it may be subject to weather conditions, wind etc making it unpredictable where it headed to. Or if the pilots realised what was happening that may explain the sudden turn around, maybe they were trying to return to KL. So many unanswered questions. Hopefully the wreckage and the black box will be found and closure will happen. Our prays are with the families of the passengers but fortunately if slow decompression took place that means that the people were unconscious and did not realise what was happening. a sad consolation.
