The nice thing about sending your book off to your critique - TopicsExpress

The nice thing about sending your book off to your critique partners is that you finally have time to do all those things youve been putting off for the last month because you were too busy finishing a book: 1. Shop for pants. I wore through every single pair I own and have not once taken the time to go to Old Navy for more. And I should probably buy more shirts too, because Ive been wearing the same gray tank every single writing day, and washing it every single night, because its my LUCKY shirt in which I once wrote 6,000 words at a single stretch. And its looking pretty thread-bare. 2. Get caught up on the beta reading I promised to do for those same beta readers currently reading mine. Sophie Perinot is about to dive into Lady of the Eternal City, and now I can finally finish up her Daughter of de Medicis. So much fun curling up with somebody ELSES religious massacre for a change. 3. Read for fun for a change! Right now Im torn: do I plunge into Marina Fioratos The Venetian Bargain about a Renaissance plague-doctor, or go viking with Giles Kristians Sons of Thunder? I think Ill take Raven Blood-Eye and his fellowship for couch reading and make Venetian Bargain my gym book, since its so much easier to read about plague victims at the gym when you too feel like you are dying. Besides, if I get pumped up about Viking slaughter while working out, I start doing things like keeping time on the treadmill with a rowing chant to Thor, and that never ends well. It was bad enough when I just got blank looks, but in these post-Marvel days, some gym bunny in pink Reeboks always comes up and starts to witter about how hawt Chris Hemsworth is. And then I have to remind myself that it is not legal in most states to perform a blood eagle on people who rudely interrupt your workout. Even people in pink Reeboks.
