The night before holi used to be special to all of us, the pranksters then. In the halcyon days of childhood, as I remember vividly, we would gather under the huge tamarind tree (which is still standing there) at 11pm for drawing plans to throw earthen pots full of dirts and mud at the doorsteps of houses. It is a tiny villlage in simdega ,namely thethaitanger, surrounded by woods and dotted with hills and crisscrossed by rivulets where I celebrated holi with my chillar friends with all fun and pranks. Having discussed the strategy in details under that tree we made our ways to targets in bunches. Each group was headed by a general. I was supremo. I led my bunch to attack the house of someone who was dabang and influential. More the fear of being caught and beaten the more was the sensation of adventure. Earlier in the day we would have had recce as regards the target houses, materials, the personnel etc. Seldom did we fail in the mischief. We implemented the plans with clinical precision. Next day we would go to all victim houses and families to shed crocodile tears singing the slogan BURA NA MANO HOLI HAI.the greatness is that all women who had to clean up the mess used to forgive us generously. Ohhh I miss those HOLIs friends. Anyways happy holi to you all.
