The number of geese wintering in Bourgas Lakes reached almost one hundred thousand weekends. The reason for this is the sharp drop in temperature and covering ponds to the north of our country with thick snow and ice. These participants share in the last monitoring of the biodiversity of the lakes made the project Living for the Burgas Lakes, implemented by the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. Only two weeks ago the geese in the region were significantly less, but the north wind, snow and ice brought into Lake Vaya 94 000 White-fronted geese. Much more than they counted colleagues Durankulashko near lakes and ponds of Shablenkiyat Lake Complex. Besides White-fronted Geese near Burgas can be observed and 4300 Red-breasted geese. They are, however, times less than Redbreasts decided to stay to eat near Shablensko Duranculak lakes. According to colleagues in northeastern Bulgaria now has 12 500 geese of this kind. Participants in monitoring this weekend saw another 1000 swan song in the fields near the Bourgas Lakes and record numbers for now 230 tundra swans. Joy to the number of birds were northern species such Mergansers, Zvanarka mountain and Red-crested Pochard, which are increasingly seen in chilly days.
