The number of injured is now closer to 400. This image was 10 hours ago. Islamabad is a war zone. Reporters are being pulled from vehicles and beaten by the police on the orders of the Interior Ministry. The police are firing long-range tear gas, rubber bullets and 12 bore shells at the protesters. Thus far, 2 confirm reported deaths. The government has taken the bodies of the dead and moved them to undisclosed locations. The government has run 3 different shifts of police and is now bringing another 10,000 police into the battle zone. Imran Khan is refusing to back down. Tahir ul Qadri is refusing to back down. While everyone is saddened and shocked at the sheer violence in the nations capital, this government, this parliament, does not understand peaceful protests. They dont understand honorable negotiations to achieve peaceful transition. They have a history of drawing blood to settle scores. For those calling for the Army to intervene - the Army did intervene on the governments request and was insulted and embarrassed by the sitting government for their intervention. The Army will allow this fight to continue between the political parties to allow for a real change to finally come to Pakistan. If the Army were to step in now, the democratic forces would cry that their mandate had been taken again, forgetting that they sacrificed their stolen mandate when they attacked the protesters. If the Army were to step in now, the judicial forces would cry that the Constitution of Pakistan has been abused again, forgetting that what the government and courts do each day are direct violations of that same Constitution they claim to protect and respect. If the Army were to step in now, segments of the population would revolt against the takeover, even if it was to declare peace in Islamabad because under Army rule, the potential of their illegal activities being uncovered would be much greater. I know it hurts to watch this. I know it hurts to read this. But this is how revolution and change comes to a third-world country ruled by 100 families since the 1970s under the guise of democracy. The first bullet of the revolution has been fired. What happens next depends on each and every citizen of Pakistan. Stand with Pakistan! Stand with Pakistanis! Forget your political affiliations and understand that this could be the dawn of a new Pakistan. These protests in Islamabad are already starting to spread across Pakistan. Last night, it was Lahore. Today, its Multan, Peshawar and Karachi. Revolution does not come without bloodshed. Remember, no nation has ever brought dictatorial rulers to the book without bloodshed. No nation can ever find freedom and independence without blood being shed. The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. - Thomas Jefferson
