The one thing to always remember is that ISIS isnt targeting any particular religion or sect. They target anyone who is opposed to them. There were Christians in Mosul, they were targeted. There were Yazidis in Nineveh, they were targeted. Most of the Kurds being attacked are Sunnis. The Turkmen (who make up 9% of the population) being targeted are both Sunni and Shia. They have taken away Turkmen Shia in trucks and no one has heard from then since. They have blown up at least 11 places of worship of Shias. The majority in Baghdad and the south which ISIS seeks to attack are Shia. I dont think it is right to talk about a Christian genocide in Iraq. Its not really a time to prioritise solidarity or to think of some victims as unworthy (For instance, the talk of religious minorities means that we miss the religious majority, the Shias, are also in the firing line) Its time to look at everyone in Iraq as worthy of solidarity and seek to expose all those who not only created the conditions for the rise of ISIS but allow for its funding and arming to this very day for its own political purposes.
