The only thing that stays the same is change. Newbies, at dialysis, start out at third shift, 3-7 p.m.. After time you get promoted to second shift, 11-3. Next comes first shift, 6:30-10-30 a.m. Today Bill was offered first shift on a regular basis. After some discussion we have decided he will accept it. Sadly, the reason for the promotions is that a patient has passed, and leaves an empty chair. Spending as much time at the Center as we do, we know all of the patients. There are all ages, all religions, all races, all stages of health. All that does not matter at all. Like anything else when you spend that much time together you become family. The passing of Barbara has hit Bill harder than most. The two of them had some praising the Lord sessions. So while Bill has been promoted to first shift Barbara has also been promoted....to walk with Jesus. She would be glad that Bill is the one to fill her chair.
