The other day Bratati, Anita and I were at Indranies place. We had a lovely time, but what I found fascinating was her living room. It was chock-a-block with an amazing collection of things. There were rare books on art and painting sitting cheek by jowl with cds and dvds.,some marvellous pieces of sculpture by her famous parents-in-law, a paper tiger practically leaping off the fridge door, and paper windmills...like the ones sold in front of Delhi Mistaan ages ago...whirring away merrily, keeping time with the fans.A bicycle leaned casually below a splendid portrait of her father-in- law and I could almost imagine it at night telling the gentleman where it had been with his grandson. In the midst of it all were two scrawny kittens balefully eyeing us, extremely displeased at this trespass on their territory! And they, let me tell you, had only lately been rescued from the jaws of a stray dog! I dont think it was a Room with a View , but it was certainly one with a soul, an artistic one at that!
