The other day I had the boys in the van and we were talking; mostly random comments and noises (you know how two year olds can be). Xavier asked me to tell him how dogs became pets. I answered the best I could without confusing him. Later, I realized the subject would be a great topic for a childrens book! Yesterday, Friday, Xavier came to my desk and asked me to read the book he had with him. This book is a beginners reader so I encouraged him to try to read it to me. He did so well...the sight words were easy for him. The compound words or letter combinations were difficult but he persisted and sounded out the words. He was very close. I am so proud of him, hes in Head Start and barely 5 years old!! He was pleased with himself as well. As far as the childrens book goes I have begun doing research. There is tons of articles out there and just as many opinions. Im thinking the book is going to be written with the latest data... Keep you all updated.
