The outer layer of your teeth and the enamel are the strongest parts of your teeth. If the enamel of the teeth is weakened, then you will suffer from brittle teeth. A cause of brittle teeth is by brushing too hard. When you use a hard brush, you dont only hurt your gums, you also damage your tooth enamel. This is one of the reasons why teeth become more sensitive to cold or hot drinks. When the teeth become too sensitive, the sufferer will experience sharp pain. Eventually the teeth will grow weak and possibly break. One main cause of brittle teeth is decalcification or loss of calcium. Our teeth tend to weaken if we dont consume enough calcium. To counter this kind of problem, hi-calcium foods and drinks like milk and dairy products should be added to your daily menu. Poor dental hygiene is also a reason for brittle teeth. Here are the things you should avoid and watch out for if you have brittle teeth. 1. Sugary foods. 2. Acid rich foods like soda and certain fruit juices. Acid makes the enamel more vulnerable to getting scratched off. Whenever you drink beverages, rinse your mouth with water and wait for an hour before you brush. Your saliva can dispel the remaining acids but it takes at least an hour for your saliva to do the job. 3. If your teeth feel sensitive due to brittle teeth, then you should avoid drinking cold beverages after eating a hot meal. Be aware that brittle teeth are thin and can break with minimal impact. 4. Gargle with mouth wash before you brush your teeth in the morning. Mouth wash will help to kill your mouth bacteria. Remember that over brushing is never recommended. If brittle teeth are a hereditary issue, then you should seek a quality dentist to help prevent dental issues. Depending on the severity of brittle teeth, dental veneers and crowns may be needed. If you are suffering from brittle teeth, then you should visit your dentist for a check-up.
