The pain and grief felt by Israelis at the discovery of the bodies - TopicsExpress

The pain and grief felt by Israelis at the discovery of the bodies of three Israeli boys allegedly kidnapped by Hamas is devastating. And it is not more or less than the pain and grief felt by Palestinians subjected to decades of unjust imprisonment, occupation, policing, and oppression. Retaliation airstrikes pounded Gaza tonight as we broke fast. These attacks will only create more Hamas sympathizers succumbing to helplessness and the fury and injustice of being targeted by a regime that appears determined to rob every last vestige of their dignity. Netanyahu referred to Gazans yesterday as human animals. Two million immobilized Gazans are packed like than sardines in a tin can - without access to basic rights, freedom of movement, jobs, adequate healthcare, and education. Their infrastructure has been demolished and destabilized. Resources and opportunities are scarce. Animals live under better conditions and with greater dignity. IDF and Hamas can flex disproportionately mismatched muscles and fire rockets, grenades, rocks, and missiles, but there is no winner in this battle. Sustainable peace and security will never be attained until basic human rights are restored and the promise of better things to come is granted to the Palestinian people.
