The paradox of coaching and hiring a coach. I have been coaching - TopicsExpress

The paradox of coaching and hiring a coach. I have been coaching women and entrepreneurs for almost 2 decades now and during that time I have also had many coaches and mentors myself. I have been privy to a variety of different styles and mindsets that have given me a very broad perspective. I want to take a moment to share a bit of MY mindset as a coach because I understand that people watch us daily and make decisions on who they want to hire based on variety of factors. If there was ever a chance that I were lucky enough to be your coach perhaps this explanation may help you. I dont believe in playing small. Everything I see, I see with the greatest capacity possible. I dont believe that we are ever truly ready to step into bigness with comfort and ease, because stepping into bigness requires a lot of DIS-comfort. There is no perfect time to make a big investment in your business, there is no perfect time to spend money you dont have, there is no perfect time to evaluate things in your past that are holding you back and there is no perfect time to get on stage and deliver your first speech or hire a coach. There just isnt, but the people who do it when they are the least comfortable doing it are the ones that get ahead in life. I trained with someone last year who makes you sign a contract that you will never take a taxi under his watch and will always fly first class and stay in the resort where he is hosting his events. Talk about playing big? I dont do that with my clients but I agree with his philosophy. I will NEVER be the coach who allows my students to play small or stay comfortable. If I was, why would you hire me? My courses and expectations of my clients are never small, they will always stretch and that is how I roll. I will get you to focus on abundance and not scarcity believing that all that you desire is already within your reach because it is. You will NEVER hear the words out of my mouth, you are not ready, because if it means stepping into a new space that is going to grow and stretch you, they you ALWAYS say YES and figure out the how later. The issue oftentimes comes when people seek counsel from multiple sources. I have done it also. One coach is advising you to play big and another comes along and advises you to play small. Well we all know what the confused mind does, chooses small or does nothing. The Bible says you cannot serve two masters. While there are many meanings to that verse, I have thought about it for many many years and I apply it to business as well. Its not that I want to hoard my students all to myself. I am all about sharing the love. However not everyone thinks the way I do. My mission is freedom for my clients and in order to TRULY be free, you must be willing to keep stepping into bigger and scarier ponds. How do I know this, because I enjoy freedom and I have for many years. I have done the work and I have the results. I dont say that boastfully but I have worked hard to get to where I am and it didnt come without a lot of wisdom derived from the scary times along with the way. Speaking had to be the scariest endeavor I ever engaged in 20 years ago, I hated it, I fought it, I was mad at everyone who made me do it and look at me today, owning my world on stage doing what I love to do most which is use my voice. Speaking fuels my entire business. Who would have thought. I bet my mentors are laughing today. Oh, hindsight. So I ask you today, to really carefully consider who you seek counsel from, and when you do, will you be willing to follow ONE path until you get your desired results? You cant join Weight Watchers and Jenny Craig and expect to have clear direction. Two different philosophies, two very different sets of instructions. When you have certainty within, you will make your decisions from certainty. Start there. I felt the need to share this today. I hope it benefited you in one way. xoxo
