The passenger car “Traveler’s Rest” was moved by the OPR No. 100 from one of the OPR’s East Portland Yard storage tracks to our Trimet diamond tail track this past weekend. The Traveler’s Rest belongs to the Friends of the 4449 group and is a 1947 Pullman lounge / dining car built for the Northern Pacific Railway. The car is currently on the tail track allowing easier access for volunteers to conduct some work on the car in preparation for National Train Day. We at the OPR aren’t sure of the final roster for this year’s Union Station event on National Train Day or how long the Traveler’s Rest will be stored on the tail track, but for now, it’s easily viewable by the public attending the museum as it currently sits right outside the front doors. -Brian
