The people, places and horses that have defined the last thirty years of Breeders Crown championships, from Hoof Beats Magazine. Hall of Fame driver John Campbell has dominated the Breeders Crown standings from the first year of the series. The 59-year-old reinsman has visited the Crown winner’s circle 45 times with purse earnings of $21,113,392 gained from driving in 294 out of 346 Crown finals. He holds the record for most consecutive drives in the series, receiving assignments in 38 straight Breeders Crown events. He’s won every division at least once except the Mare Trot, though he’s won the Open Trot a record six times. He was the first driver to win three Crowns in one night, doing so in 1991 and in 2001. This year looks to add to his Breeders Crown accomplishments. Pictured: One of John Campbells Crown contenders this year is KY Futurity champion Nuncio.
