The powers delegated to the federal government under the - TopicsExpress

The powers delegated to the federal government under the Constitution are, in James Madison’s words “few and defined.” Yet, federal policy has injected itself into state and local issues, most prominently in the field of K-12 education with concepts such as Common Core. By using taxpayer-financed grants and funding conditions, the Obama administration has coerced states into accepting Common Core. To remedy this, I have cosponsored the Local Control of Education Act, which prohibits the federal government from leveraging its grant and waiver authority to compel states to adopt any government-prescribed academic standards or curriculum. These are decisions that are properly the province of parents, teachers, local school boards and the individual states. sunshinestatenews/story/florida-congressmen-join-joe-wilsons-fight-against-obama-common-core
