The problem with Arminian soteriology is that it denies and distorts several aspects of God. While sound soteriology is not technically essential for ones regeneration, it is essential for truly being able to understand sound theology. Soteriology is foundational, and it influences and heavily affects your theology, Christology, pneumatology, ecclesiology, and even eschatology and ontology. There are not only many Biblical and exegetical flaws with Arminianism, but there are many philosophical, syllogistical and logical flaws with it as well. Even without the Bible, Arminianism cannot stand on its own as a cogent, logical framework. Arminian soteriology is the framework and theological cornerstone of the Seeker-sensitive church movement and the Emergent Church - the most horrendous and spiritually terrifying things to ever happen to Christianity in America in the history of the country. The ultimate problem with Arminianism is that it denies Total Depravity and Gods sovereignty. The Arminian tries to escape this problem with Prevenient Grace, but this is merely a deflection, and one that is insufficient at filling the logical holes. Arminianism is not Biblical, and as Dr. R.C. Sproul says, I have no idea how someone can legitimately read and study the Bible and come away an Arminian. I have no idea how someone can read even just the book of Romans and come away an Arminian. And as he said shortly after, You can be an Arminian and have salvation. But if you truly want to understand the living God as He as enabled us to, then you need to run away from Arminianism as quick as you can. It is a very dangerous belief.
