The problem with politics in the US isnt what we believe, its what we support. If you vote for crazy absolutists then your moderate beliefs have no effect on our nation. 63% of Republicans believe that the Federal government should fight global warming by cutting current power plant CO2 emissions. From a different poll by John Hopkins U, 75% of NRA members support universal background checks for ALL gun sales, including gun shows. But Republicans keep voting for global warming denialists and NRA members keep paying their dues. Im sure an enterprising conservative can find similar oddities with Democratic and liberal voters.
