The readings during this cycle (year A) are very powerful. So much so, we are asked to use them every year if we have catechumens preparing to enter the church. Two weeks ago, we hear about the woman at the well. Last week, Jesus cures the man born blind. This week, Jesus raises his friend Lazarus from the dead. Jesus had a way of using the ordinary things of life and making them holy and extraordinary. In fact, that seems to be the context of many of the stories of the bible. Water, dirt and even life are used to show the glory of God time and time again. How true that can be for us as well. God wants to use the ordinariness of US to show his glory. Maybe its someone you meet at the grocery store or a beautiful sunset or our family with all their humanness. God can make all things new if we let him.
