The reason I created the Facebook page was because I wanted to - TopicsExpress

The reason I created the Facebook page was because I wanted to show support for Nina Pham. So yesterday I went to Facebook and checked for support groups and only found one, but it was a closed group. So I started my own group in support for Nina and at that time thought about gofundme as I had heard about this way of fundraising on television before. I read there guidelines and it says that you can create a fundraiser for anyone, so thats exactly what I did. That same day, I got an email from gofundme at 3.04 pm approving my campaign and off I went. In the meantime, people on my page have started asking where to send flowers and cards etc. so I picked up the phone called Ninas hospital and after talking to the receptionist, she transferred me to another department that oversees the receiving of gifts and cards. After speaking to a man he told me that our group can send flowers etc to the hospital address attn: Nina pham I proceed to post in the group that I had called the hospital and they said we can send gifts etc and suddenly I was bombarded by threats of scams by a group of women I dont even know. saying I must be a scam because how can my campaign be real when I dont even know Nina pham or her family personally.. what? I was wondering. why do i have to know her or her family in order to raise money for a good cause? Im still confused by that. All I can conclude is that certain kinds of people dont help strangers and while we as a nation are forced to watch this poor girls unfortunate experience play out daily on tv and online, yet trying to raise money to help her and her family is bad? About 5 hours after I made my approved gofundme campaign, is when I was attacked in my Facebook group in such a hostile manner, that I had to start blocking these people as they threaten, curse and become outright mean in their nature and comments. Today all of a sudden I get notified by gofundme that my campaign had to be removed because it is similar to another campaign gofundme/ninaphamdallas. This campaign however, was created by other people claiming to know her that did not create any fundraiser campaign until they saw mine and got all upset and harassed my campaign site with constant threats until gofundme removed mine even after i started mine first in an attempt to give back and bring communities together. Long story short, I wanted to create a place where people could go on Facebook and know where to send cards, flowers etc and to also discuss how this Ebola virus is affecting not only Nina but the rest of us as well. I cannot individually provide a large donation to Nina and her family, but thought utilizing gofundme would be a great way to provide that outlet. Some nurses on my page even suggested a $5 challenge for every nurse across america in an effort of showing support for Nina. The page received so many loving supportive and encouraging comments and pictures of flowers etc that i let them all know that I would be taking all of the positive comments and putting them into a card of well wishes using shutterfly, making a hard copy for Nina to read all of the wonderful comments and prayers and well wishes from people from all over the world for her and her family to keep. This would be something they can have as a way of seeing just how many people were pulling for her while she was ill and praying she gets well. This I still will be doing as it is something I want to do from my own heart. It is sad that these people are making something bad from something good just to save themselves from the embarrassment trying to answer the question of why didnt you start a fundraiser as Ninas friends then? What exactly have you heard and from whom? Not one time did I ever claim to know Nina or her family. In fact, Ive made several statements on the page stating that it is a support group and that i am not her. Ive been completely transparent providing my personal Facebook, my life coaching business license, phone number etc. Sadly, all I got in return was harassing messages left on my voice mail calling me nasty names. In light of how Thomas Duncans family mentioned that they believe he didnt get better health care due to not him having insurance or the funds to pay in cash for hospital services, I believed this was the best option to ensure that would not happen again. It is a sad state of affairs when people react this way to a fundraising campaign with not one stitch of scam proof anywhere. The real SCAM in this story is to see someone doing something good and shut it down while Nina and her family are now getting less money than they would have because of ill intended people that she knows. rallying to shut my campaign down for no real reason other than to save face. #NinaPhams friend Sarah Strittmatter is raising money at t.co/XQTC7EA009. She speaks to #AC360 8p ET @CNN funny how that only happened after i start a campaign for a stranger yet her friend Sarah Strittmatter didnt start one until afterwards trying to look good and be on TV - WOW i hope you sleep good at night with your ulterior bad motives.. disgusting.... #sarahstrittmatter
