The recent advertisement by the Ogun State Government for graduate - TopicsExpress

The recent advertisement by the Ogun State Government for graduate job seekers to pay a non-refundable application fee of N12,000.00 Applicant appears to be too much . It is a ploy to get a pound of flesh from desperate job seekers without providing them any job. Let us assume that a minimum of 100,000 applicants applied for these jobs, this will earn the state government a revenue of N1.2bn. How many of these applicants does the state have the capacity to employ? It appears the state government wants to take advantage of the situation in the labour market to rake in revenue. This is least expected from a government that is supposed to protect the interest of his subjects. The state government placed a similar advertisement about two years ago without recruiting much. If the government is sincere, the application forms should be free or at most a minimal amount of N1000 be paid for it as handling charge. A government should earn the trust of its people. I am beginning to wonder how the Ogun State government expects to be trusted when it has in place a vain agendum to milk job applicants dry. This is unfair, the government should have a rethink and reduce the application money now and look elsewhere to raise revenue to execute its projects.
