The release of the agreement has sparked some amazing open and honest conversations between our FAs. We are excited about the level of engagement we have seen during this integral time in WestJets history. Keep in mind that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Agreeing or disagreeing with the various changes is inevitable. The fact that so many people are discussing these topics leaves room for assumptions as to where a persons loyalties lie with respect to our employee representation model. The members of the WPFAA are flight attendants. Our working conditions will also be affected by the agreement. There are points on the agreement that we agree with and support, and points that we disagree with. There are those of us who will vote yes and those who will vote no. Regardless of which way an individual decides to vote its important not to cast assumptions of whether or not they support a certain employee structure. This kind of mindset will set us back instead of move us forward. What we are voting on are the conditions in the agreement, not the structure of our representation. WPFAA or PACT supporters are valid in their personal views regardless of the representation model they support, because first and foremost we are flight attendants. Whether your vote is yes or no, the WPFAA will continue to seek certification. It is the structure of our representation that we are seeking to change. A vote for or against the agreement wont change that. The only thing that will help with certification is signing a membership card and bringing in the WPFAA as your employee representation.
