The restored Riva Lamborghini poses with a Lamborghini 350 GT It’s not every day that we can see a piece of history such as this extraordinary speedboat being restored to its original glory, but what makes this particular speedboat special is that it used to belong to none other than the founder of Lamborghini, Ferruccio Lamborghini himself. This Riva Aquarama speedboat was given to Mr. Lamborghini in 1968, and it boasted two 4.0-liter V12 engines that were also found on the Lamborghini 350 GT model. Alas, after the founder’s passing in 1993, the speedboat was neglected and left pray to the unmerciful touch of time. However, a Dutch Riva runabouts collector managed to track it down and give it over to Sandro Zani of Riva World in order to be restored completely, and after three years and endless hours of hard work, the speedboat is now restored to mint condition, which is an incredible achievement since this thing has been forgotten for about 20 ears. The exterior, for example, required sanding and 25 layers of lacquer, while the interior required new upholstery and extensive polishing. However, getting the original engines back from the Ferruccio Lamborghini museum proved impossible, so the team had to buy two engines and adapt them to the speedboat’s configuration.
