The results of this election should not surprise any of you. It - TopicsExpress

The results of this election should not surprise any of you. It certainly doesn’t surprise me. Florida is a hot-bed for stupidity and for conservative viewpoints that make no logical sense. This has been proven, time and time again. What we need to do now is take a little self-examination and find our own responsibility for what has happened. Could we have done more? I know I could have. It’s one thing to become vocal on FB and preach to the converted on an isolated forum of people who are likeminded, but there is so much more out there that can be done. Meaningful actions are needed to combat the sheer obliviousness that is the general Florida populous. First, in light of term limits, our primary job now is to attempt to limit the amount of damage this Governor will do. And he will do a lot if given an opportunity. Petitions are good, rallies are good, but we need to target the proper channels. Direct action toward Rick Scott is almost a wasted effort. There are other targets that need more attention at this point. Scott is going to need corporations, state politicians, local political allies, and of course Pam Bondi, to work his brand of criminal activity. These other structures/individuals don’t have as thick of skin as he has, and we need to concentrate a significant amount of our actions on these weaker links in the chain. At the same time we need to target only the ones that are the larger of problems, being careful not to spread ourselves to thin. Through coordination, activism and above all else, knowledge, we can go after the base of his criminal organization to limit the damage. Second, we need to find a real candidate. Someone who doesn’t make us cringe a little when we vote. Someone who is not “the lesser of two evils.” Someone who people can actually get behind and who truly instills a sense of urgency in the masses when Election Day comes along. While I understand that Rick Scott was just a force (in the negative sense), he wasn’t enough, and his Zombie followers simply overwhelmed us. Why? Because we didn’t have a candidate that the people honestly wanted.
