The rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Giancarlo Stanton and the Miami Marlins are putting the finishing touches on a 13 year, 325 million dollar contract. Stanton is an amazing baseball player, and publicly appears to be a good human as well. He deserves to be paid handsomely for his extraordinary talents. Should baseball players and owners deserve to be making this kind of sick money? They claim it is not a business and its just a game. And in turn, are granted antitrust status. The baseball industry is made up of billionaire owners who use public funds to build stadiums and pad their wealth....while the neighborhoods around baseball parks are usually ghettos. The fact that this money is available to these players means that baseball is a wildly successful business. Not just a game. And certainly not deserving of an antitrust exemption. Every time there is a new record contract...because of egos...the next contract must contain more dollars and more guarantees. Most Americans are making less at work for more hours. People having to tighten their belts because of the many wars we are financing (where rich people are getting richer). We are making less because we have to fund the many subsidies we are giving Big Ag, the Oil industry and the Pharmaceutical companies...(while they get richer.) We are suffering because the banking industry has been duping us by legally and illegally using our money to make themselves filthy rich. (without going to jail for their crimes). Tickets to a baseball game are way overpriced. Many regular season games have empty seats behind home plate, because they cost $250-$400 apiece. The concession prices at games have now even surpassed the exorbitant fees you would pay at an airport for food and beverages. Wouldnt it be nice if a sporting event was affordable to most hard working families? Yet, its not. There is nothing bad with getting and being rich. It rocks!!! Unless you have made your money by destroying other peoples lives...or cheated folks out of their hard earned money. The working human who works really hard deserves to make great money too.
