The semi-new Stone Valley Arts Organization formed from Poultney 2020 is displaying a number of poems in area business windows. A woman reading them recently liked this poem so much, she asked me to make a copy. This was written by a long-time friend and I liked it so much that I thought you might like to read it. Check out other businesses for poems in their window! Soul Mate I watch a stately hawk along a craggy mountainside, Circling as he searches for a thermal draft to ride. He soon has found an updraft for his spiraled upward trek... Before long my eyes strain; hes but a tiny speck. I stand, poor earth bound creature, in envy and in awe Wanting more to leave this earth with every breath I draw. Yes, to stand and gaze aloft must be my role; But in my mind I name that bird transporter of my soul! Then having thus transferred my soul into that noble hawk I feel more satisfaction as on this earth I walk. My heart and mind sing happily as onward I plod; I know my soul with each slow turn moves closer to my God! William G. Williams - Poultney
