The sense and nonsense of the zone A Senate Loan 3 By Iorliam’Amo Shija Technically, Dr Gabriel Torwua Suswam , the candidate that SANKERA elders led by Chief Wombo, to go to Kwande and seek for a senate loan, didn’t get any loan from KWANDE. And he was angry, and he didn’t hide his anger. His anger was not due to the express gateway that the Traditional rulers gave him. The Traditional rulers, who are not politicians, who have no role in a nomination process had done their ritual; handed Suswam to Hon Bem Tseen and Terver Orduen, Chairmen of Kwande and Ushongo, respectively with an instruction that they should take Suswam to the politicians. At the moment, the politicians were dancing at ACC, Adikpo playing ground. The politicians gave Suswam CONDITIONS for the loan… Suswam was angry, because the conditions for the loan appeared unachievable, they looked as sponsored by his enemies. His guess might be good. Among the crowd, were people who are working for Dr Barns Gemade, the incumbent senator. Now lets look at the conditions that KWANDE/USHONGO politicians gave to Suswam as their own basis for conceding the seat to him;we shall also look at the possibility and ability of Suswam to fulfil all these conditions within the time at his disposal. 1. That Hon Suswam revive Ikyogen Cattle Ranch. 2. That he should construct a road linking ikyogen cattle ranch and Achia 3. Construct Ikyogen-Abande Cameroun border 4. Construct Manyam-Ushongo-Lessel Road 5. That he should revive Ber Agum farms, making it Benue Tractor Hiring Agency(BENTHA)Headquarters 6. Establish Benue State University Campus at Adikpo 7. Employ 300 Kwande Youths in different government ministeries and parastatals at the state and federal levels. 8. Make Kwande indigene minister of FGN after the expiration of Samuel Ortoms tenure. 9. That he should also maintain and or hold positions , held by Kwand sons at NEXIM Bank, NAFDAC , and further re-instate Mr Andrew Ayabam as the Chairman, Board for Internal Revenue, Benue State. WAOH… If you were Suswam, wouldn’t you be angry? When a busy governor like Suswam made a record time second time visit to Kwande within a week, many wouldn’t appreciate why, but he knows why. 2015 senate is at stake… Being a skilful politician that he is, Suswam clearly saw through the CONDITIONS and realized forthwith that they were sponsored. My local sources also comfirmed to me that Gemade had a hand in these issues. But lets lay aside conspiratory theories and look at the demands of Kwande politicians on their merit and how far Suswam can go in actualizing them judging from the time at his disposal; on a different note, we shall also consider the issue of their genuiness, or worth. I have read many wanting to know the cost of the loan giving to Suswam, now, can they be happy, especially Kwande men, if Suswam fulfils all these conditions? To Suswams credit, he had ensured a Second Term for Dr Orhii, I don’t know if Robberts Oryas Term will expire within Suswams remaining one year. Maybe he could also use that to endear the people. Perhaps the easiest of their demands is the re-instatement of Mr Andrew Ayambam, which he can do effortlessly or employ 300 youths. That’s where the easy tasks end. Suwam will struggle with the others, even if he wants to.. Most of these demands were issues that if Dr Suswam had had political will and direction on time, he should have done long before now… So at ACC Adikpo, for the politicians to have had the courage to make a public redicule of him, he was angry…he tried, but he couldn’t hide it. But obviously, Suswam should have a plan. A plan to make Kwande happy, a plan that will do all these demands and stand qualified for the LOAN he desperately desires. To be continued?
