The setting up of Irish Water has been compared with Rural Electrification which was implemented between 1946 and the early 70s bringing Electricity to every home in Ireland. Is there a home in Ireland that does not have running water ???. A few, yes but very few. Damien English just mentioned the need to spend €10bn on the system. The other day the figure of €20bn was mentioned. For What ???. Between 2000 & 2010 exactly €1bn was spent on almost 1,000 projects around the country and they struggled to spend that. See page 18 of environ.ie/en/Publications/Environment/Water/FileDownLoad,27138,en.pdf . Have a look at the list of projects completed around the Country at environ.ie/en/Publications/Environment/Water/FileDownLoad,15344,en.pdf The system in this Country for supplying treated water is very advanced. Yes there are serious issues in some Counties but not €10bn worth of serious and even if it was €10bn I wouldnt agree with paying. They had no problem heaping €69bn onto the National Debt to bail out the banks but lets not let them bullshit us with completely spurious figures
