The situation you find in the Church today is nothing like that faced by Justin {Martyr}. In his day, a scattered group of apostolic churches still held to exactly the same understanding of the Scriptures. Thirty or forty years later Clement of Alexandria indicates he found it necessary to seek out isolated individuals who still understood and could explain the same Truth the Apostles taught. Interestingly enough, however, he claims these men all taught exactly the same thing. He says they taught a Truth that was parabolic in nature. That’s where he and Origen got the idea for their goofy allegorical method of interpretation. So you tell me: If the Truth of The Apostolic Teaching was already limited to just a few isolated individuals in Clement’s time, where would you go today to find the Truth that the Apostles taught? Think about it. It is not an issue to be dismissed lightly.
