The south-towns shooter is a classic example of why screening of prescription medication, whose side effects include suicidal tendencies, needs greater scrutiny. You see it every day on TV, medication A will cure your acne but has side effects including increased sugar levels, increased heart rate, may alter mood and thoughts of suicidal tendencies..........etc, etc. Where is the FDA in all this? Should people taking these medications be allowed to self administer and roam our streets? Drive a car? Who is responsible if the prescribed medicine causes a person to assault or kill another? The person who takes the medicine or the doctor who prescribed it? Medications whose side effects are worse than the symptoms they are trying to cure, are a risky proposition for those wanting to cure minor afflictions at the risk of permanent damage or danger to themselves and others.
