The story of how Raven was found: Raven got loose on December - TopicsExpress

The story of how Raven was found: Raven got loose on December 24th. She had three major sightings prior to today. December 25, I received a phone call in the afternoon that Raven was running around the Sibley Ball Parks for about 25 minutes until she disappeared from view. On December 26th I received a 5:00am phone call from a plow man that was waiting to start his route that he had seen Raven on Marie running towards a wooded area near the Sibley ball Parks. I was out for about an hour with two plow men, until she was spooked from hiding and litearally ran righ past me on to Marie and moving south down Callahn Pl. (After seeing her run so fast, she will defintely be entered into the Weiner dog Races this summer.) On December 27th, Raven was sighted near the corner of Charlton and Marie moving into the woods. At 3:18 today, I received another phone call that she was reported to be on Marie moving South back into the same wooded area. (The running joke has been that Raven took the Into the Woods Premiere way to seriously this week) Knowing that she had two spottings with in 24 hours moving into the same area, I was able to immediately contact the people that I knew were out on the ground and redirect them to the wooded area for ground control and patrolling. Raven was picked up by George C. Hart, who was walking his two Corgis and Basset. He said that Raven cam running up the path towards him and his dogs, he immediatedly recognized her from the flyers and dropped to the ground to not spooked her. Raven socialed with the 3 dogs while George was able to get treats out his pocket. George was able to offer her treats until he could get close enough to pick her up. He kept her in his jacket until I got to the area. She still had her collar on her and about 6 inches of leash. George does not live in the area, he is in town visiting family. We had a suspcion that Raven would be more likely to approach dogs then Humans, and this suspicion proved true and critical in her rescue. Raven is a rescue from a Puppy Mill and really loves the company of other dogs. I would love everyone to take a picture of their dog that was out walking looking for her over the past 4 days and post it in this group so we can see all the dogs who came out to help a fellow dog in need. Raven was given no reason to trust humans from her time at the poppy mill, but I will remind her every day that there are people in the world who love her even though they haven’t met her. Raven is already in her favorite spot behind the couch, sleeping soundly after getting a meal of leftover Christmas ham and kibble and a bath. Other than cutting burrs out of her fur, and losing a little bit of weight, Raven is very healthy. I am so thankful for the outpouring of support to find Raven. It has been truly touching to see people drop what they are doing on their Christmas Holiday. I will always remember this as the Christmas that I lost my dog, but gained a huge persepctive on how many loving people there are around me and in the world. I need to give a huge thanks to The Retriviers, a non-profit group of volunteers that specialize in helping owners find their lost dogs. Raven’s Foster mom (Raven was adopted from Happy Tails Rescue) Michelle Zach had recommended I call them. Jen Eidbo picked up my phone call on Christmas Eve around 8pm, and immediately started giving me advice. Jen was then assigned to be Raven’s case manager the next day. She was with me every step of the way to help me strategize a plan to rescue Raven. I was able to meet multiple members of the retrievers over the last 5 days. To learn more about The Retriever’s and assist with the rescue of other lost dogs, please visit their website or follow their Facebook page. theretrievers.org As a non-profit organziation you can make a donation through their website. I think we will all sleep a little better tonight knowing that Raven is safe and warm. Love, Raven and Sadie Ward
