The strange adventure of old people trying to watch the lunar eclipse went something like this.... 4 a.m. Billy shakes me to let me know my alarm is going off, I get up, wander outside and see the beginnings, nothing spectacular, and decide to go back to bed for a bit. 5:30 a.m I wake up(again), make a cup of coffee, go outside and see the eclipse almost total, just a sliver of moon left and its so foggy you can barely see the sky. I come inside for a few minutes, and when I go back outside the sky is empty...nothing visible where the moon was. So...I wait....and I wait. Its dark and its foggy and I hear strange noises, but its just Billy coming outside to see....still nothing. Billy says, Im going to get the truck keys and well ride over to the church and see if we can see any better. Ok..sounds good. As he comes out the back door, he accidentally hits the alarm on the remote...thats ok, the neighbors probably needed to get up anyway. We head to the church, the fog is thick and we still cant see. Billy says, Lets ride up the highway a bit and maybe we can see. I say, Uh....Im in my gown and youre in your pajama pants. Billy says, Well, I dont have my license either, but well just go up the road a bit. Ok........ Im praying, Dear GOD, please if youve ever answered a prayer before, please dont let us have a wreck. I can just see the headlines. Old couple dressed in their night clothes found wandering on side of major highway. That little ways up the road turned out to be two miles.....and we still couldnt see the moon. Old age can be so much fun.....
