The trip from Jim Thorpe went fine. We arrived in D.C. and met with old friends, saw my grandson, Adam and his wife and just pretty much had an easy afternoon. Faina briefed all of us on what we needed to do and how much time we had for rehearsal and sound check since this presentation was starting early so that the venue could put on another presentation almost immediately after we were done.Up until today, I had never performed on the Howard University campus before. I am happy to say that the technical staff was really up to par with us and really supported our efforts in performance greatly. This was reflected in our performance so, I tip my hat to the technical staff at Howard University and the Howard theatre for being resourceful and prepared for us. My grandson, Adam took pictures at sound check. I will do some editing and then put them up on the Numubu and Facebook pages shortly. In rehearsal I learned about the Evans dry Genera snare batter. I really like its character in performance on the 6 Bubinga snare drum. I feel strongly that I will continue to use it on that drum from this point forward. I am also very happy with the sound of the G14 clear heads on all of my rack toms. I am not sure but I believe that the Howard theatre may have had a say in the positive attributes of my drum set as well. This element trickled down and through the performance since everyone keys into the drum set tonal personality when there is clarity of sound throughout and tonight we were rocking! The band has one more date in Boston tomorrow night and I tinted to document it with my GoPros so, hopefully I will have something to share with everybody come next weekend. One last great big surprise: Dennis Chambers was in the audience and he is doing very well. I did not know until Dean told me after the performance. This is definitely worth much more than the price of admission. A GOOD THING!
