The true strength of concentration is not just the seated - TopicsExpress

The true strength of concentration is not just the seated mediation at the zen hall everyday. It is to exercise the state accomplished from a period of time of cultivation and practice in coordination with the ideal thoughts of humanistic Buddhism to educate Buddhists. That is the true meaning of zen in humanistic Buddhism. The first step of cultivation is to start with enlightenment, then to cultivate and help others until the accomplishment of Buddha hood. That is an inevitable process. The enlightenment means to realize that everything in the world we take as ever-lasting is actually the product of combination of relative conditions: they gather together when the causes and conditions meet together, and they dilapidate naturally when the causes and conditions disperse. Being able to see through the world as such and face the world by accepting the truth that there are increases and decreases, highs and lows in the world so that one will be free at ease. The adverse conditions resulting from the confrontation between self and people and all the troubles in the cultivation are all empty in nature; so why not just to let them go? I would like to trek the whole world with my straw sandals only to clean all the dusts off sentient beings to illuminate their true nature! ~teaching by Venerable Master Shih Ru Ding
