The turning of the tide When you’re washing out the bean cans to make the sauce go far, & walking in the cold & rain, can’t afford to tax the car. The last few cent I had this morn , I spent the lot on fuel. to heat the house, to light the fire, I look to those who rule... So Enda, when you’re sitting down to sip your Chateaux wine, just stop & think of your fellow-man & all your dirty lying. Poor kids with needs, so needlessly you took away their aid, so callously you made these cuts, you remain so highly paid. Along with all your fellow yobs you’ve drained this country dry, Promises you never kept, those lies you can’t deny. Punishing the poorest, the vulnerable & old, Fianna Fail, Fianna Gael, yer made from the same mould. A laughing stock around the world, the Irish pay all debts, Brownnosing all bondholders, yer like the teachers pets. Who came up with the clever name of Uni-versal Tax? Was it late one night, drinks in hand, keeping company with Sachs? Household Tax, spun out this year, ye really have some neck, to think we’ll take this lying down, as our lives ye try to wreck. Are ye all hallucinating or taking the total piss, We’ve had enough of living rough, ‘tis my arse that ye can kiss. This Island’s sinking very fast, to hell with all these rules The leaders of our fair isle, taking the lot of us for fools. Our younger generation, you expect to pay your debt, their future so uncertain, their epitaph you’ve set. So Kenny & Co take heed of this, we’re getting past our peace, You’ve shopped us to the vultures; you’ve taken out a lease, on all our lives, on who we are, you.ve dragged us through the mud, Imposing all these hardships, in you we got some dud. There are people out there hungry & wide awake all night, You’ve stripped from them their future, of this you had no right. A revolution is on the cards, & Enda you can’t hide, We’re well past taking this lying down,’tis the turning of the tide. M.Keane.
