The unemployment rate increased in 52 of West Virginias 55 counties in February. Panhandle unemployment figures include: Grant 11 percent, Hardy - 7.7 percent, Pendleton - 5.8 percent, Mineral - 6.6 percent and Hampshire - 7.5 percent. Monongalia County has the states lowest unemployment rate at 4.6 percent, followed by Jefferson at 5.3 percent. Wetzel Countys rate of 13.2 percent was the states highest, followed by Calhoun County at 13.1 percent. The states seasonally adjusted jobless rate in February rose one tenth of a percentage point to 6 percent.
