The unemployment rate is higher in DC, Maryland and Virginia. The Bureau of Labor Statistics pegs DCs August rate at seven-point-six-percent, Marylands rate at six-point-four-percent and Virginias rate at five-point-six-percent. The rate in each jurisdiction is either point-two or point-three-percent higher than it was in July.
