The utility crews and linemen are on my mind tonight. Night has fallen and with it the temperatures - we will be below freezing soon. Wind is still high and gusty and the crews are still moving from one spot to the next trying to get power back on for folks. I cant imagine what it must be like in those buckets up in the air when 50 mph gusts hit. Some areas have lost their power several times. Tacoma Power has been posting updates all day - 8 crews with most of them called in from home on this Holiday. I have to wonder how many of them are Vets, working this Veterans Day. I was only out of power for 2 hours this morning and realize how lucky I am considering what Ive been hearing in other neighborhoods. These are just random thoughts as I sit in my somewhat warm house, on my laptop, with the noise of the TV in the background. Best wishes to those in dark houses and to those working so hard in such challenging conditions.
