The verbal section on the MCAT is by far the most frustrating - TopicsExpress

The verbal section on the MCAT is by far the most frustrating thing on the planet. You take countless different types of literature that could be interpreted in a myriad of ways, put your own meaning and definition to what you have determined the author means and then expect 1000s of students to interpret it in the exact same way. I understand there needs to be a way to test if students can extrapolate important information as is necessary in patient diagnosis, so how about, I dont know, give us some patient histories and have us do that? (By junior year most of us have done some form of this in a class anyway) I thought I was being tested to see if Id make a good medical student not that I could interpret that when the author said I encountered the disturbing sight of a dead horse, black against a hillside, eyes rolled back. Another day I was nearly lifted by a sandstorm so fierce and hot that I had to wait for it to pass before I could return home he was inferring they have necessary roles in a perpetual drama in the world of the sunflower that entire passage was about.
