The way to establish Khilafah (according to Nouman Ali Khan) is by praying fajr and calling your parents. So those who call for it apparently dont pray fajr or call their parents? And those who apparently call for it in Europe spend most their time smoking Shisha and missing fajr? Justifying the call by referring to 3/4 particular ayat means you havent understood Islam or the Quran properly – maybe. Laymen aside, what about the thousands of Shuyukh who have read the Quran and experts in the Arabic language that say the establishment of Islam is THE biggest obligation of our time and the solution to the Ummahs problems (including Dr Yasir Qadhi)? Where does this idea of “fix your household first” then go out to call for Shariah come from? Did Rasulah (saw) wait for Abu Lahab or Abu Talib to accept Islam before taking the call to the wider society? Did He (saw) wait for the whole of Makkah to become Muslim before seeking material support from 70+ tribes during Hajj? Did He (saw) wait for EVERY Muslim to establish Islam in their households before seeking a base to spread it from? Of course not. No one denies the fact that early revelation mainly referred to hellfire, paradise and salaat to build the imaan and taqwa of the people; and the ahkam/rulings came later – but how does that qualify the method of revival stated by NAK? Many scholars have argued that Surah Lahab was Allah (swt) challenging Makkan society and specifically the economic system, when He (swt) said: “Perish the hands of the Father of Flame! Perish he! No profit to him from all his wealth, and all his gains!” This was as response to Abu Lahab cursing Rasulah (saw) for interupting market/trading/commerce time. Praying salaat is undoubtedly one of the biggest (if not the biggest) obligation for Muslims. However, the way it is being prayed now in an individual ritualistic way only fulfils ones personal duty. When Allah (swt) mentions numerous times in the Quran and establish prayer, was He (swt) commanding this to be established on an individual level or collective/legislative level? I agree there is nowhere to make hijra at this present time in the absence of a state, and living in the UK/US/Europe is far more comfier in terms of living standards, educational and employment prospects compared to the Muslim world. Id be the first to argue against the false and misunderstood idea that Saudi/Iran/Brunei et al are Islamic states. Lastly, when did the US go through this phenomenon of young Muslims wanting to establish Shariah? I dont recall this. The US government and security services have done such a fantastic job of creating spies (within communities like the UK) and funding every moderate liberal hippy jazz group that American Muslims have conformed and culturally assimilated out of fear. I confidently conclude that the Muslims of Britain (and Europe) are more politically aware, politically concerned for the wider Ummah and hold on to a more orthodox mainstream identity (uncompromisingly) compared to the jazz Islam of the US (not to say the UK does’t have problems – it definitely does). Enough love and respect for NAK, he is rightfully a qualified Don in what he does (Quran and the Arabic language), but this short clip of how he thinks the Shariah should be established has no Shari’ basis - ie. Pray fajr and ringing your parents. May Allah (swt) guide us all, and bless us with being the generation that witness the fulfilment of His (swt) promise and Rasulah’s (saw) prophecy. Let us be a part of that promise with our speech, health and wealth.
