The western hemisphere needs a physical location for a UFO Archives. UFO Sweden has an actual real world library where you can go and browse old issues of UFO publications and that effort should be applauded. However, who among you can afford to shell out the money it costs to travel to Sweden for UFO research? Digital archives are great, they are fantastic but there is something to be said about exploring through the stacks of a library looking for archival material. We also need to start preserving some of this material for the future. You can still find original UFO material on eBay but the amount that is out there is dwindling. Ive also heard horror stories about UFO researchers who pass away and the family doesnt know what they have in their collection and it all just ends up in the garbage. What would be great would be a location with an archival research room with microfilm / microfiche / microform readers, micro media storage, library computers, scanners, stacks of UFO related literature and an auditorium for UFO lectures. Then the collection begins. Ideally, what would be perfect would be a repurposed small historic public school, one that is perhaps historic that the local government doesnt want to tear down but they also dont know what to do with. How this would all materialize, I have no idea.
