The white supremacist in this video clip is supposedly shocked by his DNA heritage ..... but its not really about color. Racism is not really about color, its about the behaviour associated with it. Skin color, like dress, is a marker used to profile groups of people. The behaviour of an African American can be said to be seen as normal behaviour in line with idealised Western democratic values - politeness, non aggression, turn-taking, etc etc ... what we commonly agree to be good behaviour. The behaviour of a person described as a nigger, or any of the other pejorative terms used to describe POC, is behaviour generally agreed upon by the economically dominant culture, as appropriate, ie no stealing or bashing or threatening types of anti social behaviour. The sort of discrimination that occurs and is most often complained about is in relation, not to skin color, but to public behaviour. If white people behave in anti social ways, and some do, they too are discriminated against. In other words, ALL people should behave according to certain minimum standards, and the people who set those standards are not minority groups - they do not get to call the shots. White outlaw motorcycle gang members are subjected to the same discrimination as any other minority groups who behave outside accepted social standards, however, many of those minority groups claim the discrimination practiced against them is color based. Not so, in fact. If, however, most or many or a significant number of members of a minority group behaves in ways outside societal norms, then the markers of that minority group, be it clothes or skin color, mark the group as anti social. People do not have time to asses every single member of every minority group for compliance, and so, society begins profiling people based on appearance, in the same way that many colored people make assumptions about white people. If as a minority, you dont want to be discriminated against, then the onus is on all members of the group to comply with the accepted standards of the society in which they live, and, again, that certainly happens to errant members of the dominant group as well. Its not about color, its about behaviour, and if many, most, a significant number of a minority steps out of line, then they all cop it, and rightly so. The dominant group expects minority groups to self manage the behaviour of their group members. It is incumbent on minority groups to either manage their individual members behaviours. The management of outlaw motorcycle gangs are finding that they are suffering the wrath of the society now for that very lack of management of its members, and those OMC gang members are to a large extent perceived as being white people. Muslims in Australia, and in other modern Western democracies are slowly coming to understand that they need to manage their members if they are to effectively market their culture as compatible with the dominant cultures amongst which they have chosen to live. They dont get to call the shots on what is and is not appropriate - that is the privilege of the dominant culture, hence Frances rigid stance towards muslims. People of all colors and creeds and religions and political and philosophical persuasions need to learn to comply. Comply and learn to play the game, and arms will be opened everywhere. Look at America with its black president - there are plenty of examples around. Hey, its not rocket science, but if you dont want to play the game according to the rules, well, take your bat and ball and go play somewhere else .... white people have to play under the same rules.....its not about color, its about following the rules of the game.
