The whole U2 thing is really disappointing. A lot of people my age have a real hate and mistrust of the band, however my perception of them has always been a positive one simply because Ive been grown up on good music, and their classic albums where always in the mix. When I arrived at an age where I could appreciate the intricacies of songwriting and achieving sounds, I immediately disagreed with the negative lash-out that most hip folks my age seem to direct toward the band. I respect them for what they have done, and still enjoy playing some of their older songs loud today. I havent listened to the new album that appeared in everyones iTunes- but I can get rid of it when I want. I can see why people feel violated by their recent act of giving, but blimey, they had some great songs and live shows and its a shame that theyve brought this negative bullshit on themselves. Watching It Might Get Loud made me see what a sonic architect The Edge is and what an overall nice guy he is. He knows his sound relies of effects pedals, so what? He kills it with his simple riffs. Anyway, Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me rocked the shit out of those credits on Batman Forever, maybe thats why Im so defensive.
