The whole United States needs the blue laws back - at least on Thanksgiving Day (and a few others). We in NY in my generation and earlier all grew up with Sunday blue laws (which of course included major holiday) and guess what, WE SURVIVED, we are still living, we are not dead, we never lost our lives, we never went without necessities because of inability to shop on Sundays. We had the day to relax, be with family. We never had to say oh we cant go to camp on Sundays because dad has to work, or we cant attend the family reunion because mom needs to ring out the customer buying records/tapes, we never had to pass up graduations, anniversaries, jubilees celebrations because one of the kids had to work in some retail or supermarket.
