The world, the USO and the whole military community are in mourning over the loss of Robin Williams. He entertained over 90,000 troops in 13 different countries, including war zones in Iraq, Kuwait and Afghanistan, and his death, believed to be suicide, is so very heartbreaking and sad. Secretary of Defense, Chuck Hagel, said that the entire Department of Defense community mourns the loss of the Hollywood figure. Robin was a gifted actor and comedian, but he was also a true friend and supporter of our troops, he said in a statement. From entertaining thousands of service men and women in war zones, to his philanthropy that helped veterans struggling with hidden wounds of war, he was a loyal and compassionate advocate for all who serve this nation in uniform. The SBSM’s want to thank you, Robin Williams, for supporting and loving our troops over the years. You brought laughter and smiles, and helped our men and women forget the struggles of war, if only for a brief moment in time. And, your depression reminds us of the inner hurts and ghosts that so many in the military are suffering. We need to raise the awareness of PTSD and let those affected know we care and are here for them 24/7 – we will help you get the help you need, please just reach out. This video is one of Robin’s best, taken in 2007 at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. military/video/forces/army/robin-williams-reacts-to-retreat/2940418758001/
