Friday Osondu better known by his stage name Riva 9, is a Nigerian – Irish singer-songwriter, and record producer. The moniker “Riva 9” according to the artist stem from being the ninth child in his family and a native of ‘River Niger’ area of Delta state. He graduated with Honours Degrees in Human resources Management from Dublin Institute Of Technology before starting off Ten Child World in 2008 as a Business Empire that will front future businesses and brands. In 2009, Ten Child World C.E.O – RIVA 9 released his first single debut ‘Invitation’. The single bearing his trademark voice over a blend of Hiphop, R’nB and Afro beat was a big success in Ireland and eventually went viral on the net. ‘Invitation’ without a doubt, announced the arrival of the scintillating performer admired not only for his unique voice but for his catchy lyrics and style. Subsequently, Riva 9′s career gained momentum through a series of successful collaborations with both established and upcoming artists. He was nominated at the Tush award Nigeria 2010/2011 in the best song African in diaspora category for his song ‘No bodyz party’. His songs and music videos have amassed a large number of viewership on the internet and are never short of airplay in media houses across the globe. However, most people will agree that the highlights of the 2011 Ireland African Music Awards (IAMA) was when Riva 9 cleaned up by walking off the Arena clutching two prestigious awards for Best up-coming Artiste and Best Song Collaboration. The Award winning song which was a remix of ‘Invitation’ had a hand full of top names like Pop Dogg, Big Jay, Sematecino, Joe Chad, Badman Floss & Emilia. His second single ‘Peace Of Mind’ earned Riva 9 another award at the 2012 Ireland African Music Awards (IAMA) for Best Video. The song was also a collaboration featuring a host of talents including Da Boss, Stone (Of Stone and Jezreel) and Nigeria’s hot sensation Danny Young. He pulled off a smashing performance after receiving a recognition Award from the Ankara Festival Dublin 2013 for the video/song of his single ‘Peace Of Mind’. His latest album ‘Child Of The Struggle’ (a work in progress collaboration) is said to be a solid album to watch out for according to sources. The album, mainly a collaboration with Pacroc7ing, a South African Producer and rapper is due to be released in December 2013. Singles extracted from the Album went viral online and eventually hit the airwaves in Ireland and South Africa. Three singles in total have already been released from this album. As a hard worker who believes in ‘Go Hard or Go Home’, Riva 9 has toured and performed in several fund raising events, concerts and sold out shows around Europe and Nigeria. During an interview after a performance in a fundraising event in UK, the artist confirmed his first feature film debut in a Nollywood Film shot in Ireland early this year. The film titled ‘Born Again’ is directed by the Award winning Dublin based film director Joe Chad and will be out soon. Finally, during a press release, a spokesperson for 1universe Music hinted that Riva 9 has finished shooting a music video as part of a collaboration project with one of Nigeria’s hottest sensation, Sound Sultan. The much anticipated single is scheduled to be released in November 2013. He is currently polishing up an ongoing project and plans to launch a massive promotion campaign in Africa with the aim of establishing a Network base in Nigeria for 1universe Music/Ten Child World.
