Then the young baboon grows up and remained lifelong friends with Sirabi the lioness, who gave him the name Rafiki. Years later, she marries Mufasa, and names her cub in honor of Rafikis father, Simba, who selflessly saved his son from the male lion by scratching a scar into his left eye. Scar suffered amnesia from the attack, but upon hearing the name Simba, the memory was triggered and he swore revenge.
